1. The process I went through to develop my drawing started with my list of ideas. After I narrowed my choices down to four, I decided to go with my floral idea. After that, I sketched out my idea, then I drew my final piece.
2. I found different values in my different facial features to create an image that appeared three-dimensional. There was a wide range of values especially in my nose. 3. I achieved a full range of values within my portrait by pushing the lights and the darks of the image. I also did not just use black to darken colors. I used deep purples, blues, and browns to deepen a lot of my colors. 4. I think my artwork was crafted neatly. Using pastels makes hard edges more difficult, but I think I was able to keep my piece clean and sharp where it needed to be. 5. I was able to capture my look with the eyes. I think that giving soul to the eyes is one of the most important things to do while drawing a face. 6. I used techniques we learned during our proportion practice from before this project to help with the placement of my facial features. 7. The significance of having to learn to draw all the facial features individually is so you become familiar with how to draw them realistically before you have to draw a whole face. 8. I think that drawing the individual features was most beneficial to me for this project. It let me practice drawing my own facial features, which is something I'd never done before. 9. An obstacle I had to overcome while drawing my self portrait was impatience. This was one of my most time-consuming pieces, and I am used to working very quickly. I found myself growing impatient while drawing the flowers, so at the end I got a little sloppy.

1. The subject matter of his project was a cat. I have just recently seen the Cats movie, which was extraordinary horrific, so that was my inspiration. 2. Since it isn’t easy to create value with a scratch board, i used texture to enhance my image. I used many lines to create the texture of the fur. I used a stippling technique for the cats nose. 3. I balanced the lights of the cat with the dark background to create a good composition. 4. I implied movement in my piece by the different directions of the fur. You can see this especially under the eye and on the side of e nose. 5. I could’ve done a better job on the ear. I also placed the cat right in the middle of page when i meant for it to be more to the side, so more shadow covers the cat than I would like. 6. I demonstrated a wide range of shading value through both the weight and spacing of my lines. The closer together or thicker my lines were, the lighter the fur is in the image. Progress: reference pictures:
This assignment was to practice hatching, stippling, and other techniques on a black piece of paper and a scratch board.
This assignment was to draw lips with and without a reference. I the lips I drew with a reference turned out better than the ones without.
This assignment was to draw two eyes and two noses (one general and one with a reference for each). I think that the drawings with reference were more successful than the general drawings.
This assignment was to arrange various pieces of candy and draw them using either pastel sticks, pastel pencils, or prismacolors. I chose pastel sticks and tried to incorporate as many colors as i could.
